I live and breathe the chance to interact with people who aren’t… well… American.

My best female friend, Emma, who you may or may not remember from New Zealand and my 1000 trips to England & Germany this past December, came to America to stay with me for 5 weeks.

We ventured to New York to see Martijn from the Netherlands who is interning with the United Nations. We met him in New Zealand.

We celebrated Independence Day in the City of Brotherly Love.

We got our GTL on at the real Jersey Shore, Seaside Heights, where we also tactfully avoided some major male grenades.

Then we worked out way down to Baltimore.

Traversed out to Gettysburg.

Then the big one…

MIAMI!

The pictures of which are not fit for young eyes. Or the internet for that matter. So we’ll sum it up with this.

English. Australians. Germans. French. Beach. Drinks. Clubs. Bars. Updated from a room in a hostel to an apartment for free. Drinks. Australians. Clubs. Thai food. Hotdogs. Heat exhaustion. Jager (did I just say that? Oops, I am 22.)

Here’s the cleanest picture I can give ya.

and Disney World.

Back to Jersey to camp in the Pine Barrens.

Off to Jamestown to get our Pocahontas geek on.

END 5 weeks!!!! WHA!

I’ve lived in apartments before, but now, I have my own where rent comes every month – not twice a year in the form of a bill from Stevenson.

So I’m living off University Parkway and St. Paul Street in Baltimore. And man am I loving it! I’m in the middle of everything! I was born to live in a city!

The living room is the only picture I have to share. The bear is property of my subletter. She stowed it away in a closet but I think he brings more character to the room.

On top of all the graduation goodness, two days before graduation I got an offer from Silverpoint, editing website content for private schools. I went from interning a year in public relations at 1st Mariner Arena, only to realize entertainment was not my industry. My passion lies where information can be found – the internet.

I start my day at 7am, and walk the 2 miles to the office, and begin work around 8:45, where I quickly immerse myself in HTML. And I have to admit, writing this blog in wordpress was a bit strange until I found the HTML view – PHEW!

The day ends around 5:30 with another 2 mile walk home. Long day, but you really just get in the zone and forget the time. I’m not complaining.

The Party!

My graduation party was potentially the best day of my life. In addition to having graduated the day before, all the people I love came! Including a surprise guest from overseas!

Best friends Dane Satterthwaite and Emily George (as well as my mother) e-mailed back and forth, unbeknownst to me, and arranged for Dane to surprise me with a weekend visit! It was literally a flying visit. He arrived Friday (tried to make it to the actual graduation but couldn’t), stayed with his friend James in DC, then drove up Saturday to surprise me at noon! After a long day of partying, he flew back to England on Sunday!

Total shock and best surprise ever. The worst part was that EVERYONE knew but me! So when my guests I’d arrive and tell them Dane was in America (FOR ME!) and they all said, “Yeah, we know.” Knowing this, they did not mind that all my attention was on the man who dropped a few hundred dollars for one day. So worth it!

And that ladies and gentlemen, is why you study abroad!

SGA President, Nicholas Farano, also graced us with his presidential appearance!

I graduated!

4 hard years, but I made it! And life only got better from this day forward!

Most people invite family to their graduation; I brought my best friends.

Graduation is only 22 days away and the semester is coming to an excellent close!

Yesterday the SGA went to Dave & Buster’s for an end of the year dinner, and on the way back it kind of hit me – 22 days to go, but only 2 more weeks of classes/finals/interning. Never again will I have to attend a class! Until grad school…. DUN DUN DUN!

Last Friday was Relay for Life at Stevenson University. The SGA dressed up at the Gym Leaders of Pokemon! Our fundraiser for the evening was to challenge one of the gym leaders to a Pokemon Stadium Game in hopes of winning a gym badge. See below for the team + a winner of all 8 badges.

I was Gym Leader Blaine. See above with best friend from Pennsylvania & Stevenson Roommate.

Bombay Bicycle Club – Flaws

Florence + the Machine – Hardest of Hearts

Spring Break is upon us and, while last year SB meant an excuse to leave the country, this year I find myself working the 9 to 5 insurance gig again. Alphabetizing, sorting, and filing. Something as simple as shuffling through papers for 8 hours really does leave one exhausted. Daylights Savings Time did not add to the pleasantries at work today. Everyone was ready to take a nap. I promised myself I’d take a nap when I came home, but with only 59 days remaining until the much anticipated graduation date, I spent this evening applying to a few jobs.

I’m starting to regret telling work I’d come in for the week. Sometimes you just need a few days to recoop. And when you’re as busy as I am, those few days off mean the most. My Vice Pres, Nick Farano, messaged me a “Sup Kiddo” this evening, which turned into a “You earned a week off 10 fold.”

Well, I can work hard this week because I’m certain Senioritis will be in full force once I return to Stevenson.

I really wish I had pictures from an adventure abroad to post. It’s gonna be a while….

Check out a few of my latest jams this semester.

I Am Arrows – Nuns

Bombay Bicycle Club – Dust on the Ground

Edward Maya feat Alicia – Stereo Love

Fake Blood – I Think I Like It

That’s all I have for you now. Keeping it European as usual. Apart from Stereo Love, I hope you haven’t heard any of the other artists. Nothing annoys me more than good European music coming to American and going mainstream.

I tried to form a Quidditch team out of good fun on campus. Check out this fun little video from our first practice back in early February. We had a few people that were really into it. Being overly involved on campus, however, I was not able to continue with it as seriously as I’d have liked. It was definitely a lot of fun and a great workout. We ended up playing for 3 hours the first time.  If you know anything about Quidditch, a “Bludger” dodging drill became a game of dodgeball.
