So on Saturday, as Dane Satterthwaite explained to me, was the day that the appointed Lord Mayor of London starts his term. So there is a parade through the city which ends at 5:00pm with fireworks over the Thames. Dane was excited about the fireworks and I went with him at 3:30 into the city.
3:30 seems a bit early to go into town to watch fireworks. I was a bit skeptical. But Arsenal had an early home game that day, which meant Londoners would be traveling along the underground in MASSES. And the amount of tourists there only added to the congestion. After meeting Dane at the designated time and finding that the Northern line was JAMMED, we walked over to the Victoria line and switched trains at Warren St. to get to Embankment, which was exactly where we needed to be for fireworks. The would be 10 minute tube ride had us arrive at 4:00. Dane was quite anxious to get a good spot on the Waterloo Bridge. I badgered him the hour, teasing how in no way was it going to get dark enough for fireworks (which were scheduled at 5) and that no one was even going to come. All in good fun, of course.
Fireworks came and I was freezing! Dane let me borrow his gloves (very similar to those which I would use to shovel snow with) and we went to a pub directly under Waterloo Station (the trains ran overhead). After a quick drink we took a walk around London all lit up, passing by Parliament, walking down Whitehall, turning at Trafalgar Square, walking passed the Prince of Wales’ house, then around Piccadilly Circus, down Regent’s Street, down Carnaby St for some dinner, and down Oxford St, to Euston Road to King’s Cross. A bit of a walk, but a nice little stroll with a very good friend.
So anyways, here are some fun pictures I took.

Dane: “You know all these people hate us
for having the best spot on the bridge!”

Jessica: “You know it won’t be dark enough for fireworks”

I wish I had gotten a non-blurry picture of everything lit up.

This is post “I wish I brough gloves”. I look a complete mess
because I was freezing and it was windy. But it was fun ^_^
That’s it for now.
