This weekend Kristi’s friends Katrina and Emily are visiting Auckland.  To be good hosts we’ve decided to live it up Auckland style with plans on taking the ferry to Waiheke Island and biking around the vineyards.

But first things first…

AJ Hackett’s Bungy Jump off of Auckland’s Harbour Bridge.

Nigel went last Friday and told us about the “Go Before 9, Get 2 Jumps for the Price of 1″ deal.  So Team Whittaker booked it’s spot and rose bright and early at 7:30 this morning to catch the 8:55 shuttle to the bridge.

(Please note, some of these pictures are mine, some are Kristi’s, some are Katrina’s, and some are Jack’s)

Team Whittaker + 1 after getting into the harnesses.

We get to the AJ Hackett base and get strapped into our harnesses! Easy Peasy.
Next step: Walking to the center of the bridge. It was super winder!
Jumpers went in this order: Bryan, Katrina, Jack, Me, Kristi.

Getting my feet strapped in! You aren’t just attached by the legs.
Your entire body is strapped into a harness, but the legs are the last part.

Stevenson University Hoodie here to represent!

Taking the plunge! 40M

After my jump!  SOAKED!

When I was getting strapped in the guy asked if I wanted to hit the water.  Jack had already gone waste deep into the water, and Bryan touched the Harbour with his fingers, so heck, why not! It’s only once in a lifetime (or as many times as you can afford, but a one time first experience).
I’m not the type to be nervous about anything. Heck, I’m a dare devil!  But getting to the edge was nerve racking!  And so off I jumped and screamed like a girl.  I was expecting my stomach to fall out on me like I was on a rollar coaster, but it didn’t.  Next thing I know I’m mouth open, screaming, headed straight for the water!  Head, Shoulders, Stomach, Waist…. I WAS DRENCHED!!!! I didn’t know how far I was doing to be submersed.  I almost feared I’m be completely engulfed.  But before I knew it, I was out of the water, with a mouthfull of salt water, bouncing around!

Jump #2! Backwards!
And of course, there is jump #2!  I told them no water this time, so I could enjoy the art of falling
without a mouthful of water. Going backwards was my favorite part!

Jack and I are DRENCHED!

Girls Post Jump!

Team Whittaker + 1 Post Jump! Jack and I are SOAKED!

OVERALL JUMPING WAS AMAZING!
Please forgive me, mother. You said to not do this and I did. But I swear I’m fine. No back problems. It was smooth. Wasn’t jerked or anything. Smooth sailing!

Until next time!
