My graduation party was potentially the best day of my life. In addition to having graduated the day before, all the people I love came! Including a surprise guest from overseas!
Best friends Dane Satterthwaite and Emily George (as well as my mother) e-mailed back and forth, unbeknownst to me, and arranged for Dane to surprise me with a weekend visit! It was literally a flying visit. He arrived Friday (tried to make it to the actual graduation but couldn’t), stayed with his friend James in DC, then drove up Saturday to surprise me at noon! After a long day of partying, he flew back to England on Sunday!
Total shock and best surprise ever. The worst part was that EVERYONE knew but me! So when my guests I’d arrive and tell them Dane was in America (FOR ME!) and they all said, “Yeah, we know.” Knowing this, they did not mind that all my attention was on the man who dropped a few hundred dollars for one day. So worth it!
And that ladies and gentlemen, is why you study abroad!
